Rainy Day Fund

Also known as the Revenue Stabilization Account

The surplus from the 2012-13 budget was mostly used to fund the 2014-15 budget, with $15 million remaining.

The House passed 2014 HB 1411 to spend most of it, but the Senate defeated it.

State Treasurer Cathy Provencher recommends that the rainy day fund be maintained at about 5-10 percent of the unrestricted general fund revenue, ($70-140 million).  As of May, 2014 NH has only $9.3 million, or .7 percent of general fund unrestricted revenue.
