SB 143, “Pathway to Work,” promotes and encourages new business development by enabling qualified unemployed workers to commit full time to developing their own small businesses while continuing to receive their earned unemployment benefits.
- No more than 2.5% of NH workers receiving regular unemployment compensation can qualify for “Pathway to Work” at one time.
- Those selected will work closely with NH Small Business Administration Development Center to create a viable business plan, receive business counseling, training, etc. to help ensure a more successful outcome.
- After 5 years, 80% of SBDC counseled businesses are still in business, while only 44% of non-assisted businesses survive.
